Secret Glacier

Secret Glacier - Jasper National Park, CA

On our trip to Lake Maligne Lake we discovered many interesting sights and formations along the edges of the mystical lake and in the mountains above. This is a very old part of the mountain range and the rocks are quite soft so they are worn and now largely tree covered. As you reach the mid-point of the lake, the mountains change dramatically. They are taller and more jagged. It is a younger range that at the top of the lake. There are several glaciers nestled in the mountains above the lake. This is one that caught my eye. The sun setting behind the mountains lit up just the crest of the glacier as it tumbled over the edge of a mountain cliff high above us. The wild world of Jasper has surprises at every turn. Definitely on my list of places to visit again...
