Morning Glow

Morning Glow - Moose, WY

Morning in the mountains (any mountains) is a wonderful sight and experience. Watching the sun light up the Grand Tetons with the Snake River winding across the valley is truly a next level experience. I have always seen striking photographs of this range and been captivated by them. I made a 4:00 am trek out to this spot made famous by Ansel Adams in 1942 and hoped for a special moment. As the clouds along the horizon behind me broke, the light hit the mountain peaks and the treetops below at the same time.

At first I didn’t have a way out to this location. I told our local tour guide of my interest in going out there in the middle of the night and asked if she knew anyone would would be will to drive me out at such an early hour. She suddenly and generously offered for me to just take her car so I could get my shot. What a wonderfully kind offer to to leave the keys for me to grab her car (and “just bring it back in one piece”) - Wyoming is a different and exceptional place. Although I didn’t need her car after all, I am grateful for the offer and it is a very special part of my experience.
