First Snow
First Snow - Ellicott City, MD
Woke up to a perfect day to get out and visit this fantastic waterfall. I've been here a number of times but never with a good dusting of fresh snow. It was amazing. The hike was easy and the anticipation rose with each step along the path leading to the top of the falls. I had never approached it from this direction before and I had to cross the stream several times to make my way to the top of the waterfall. As I got there, I saw the icicles and fascinating ice orbs alongside the cascade. For a relatively small waterfall (about 20’) it was very dramatic and impressive with the snow and ice (and swirling leaves).
