It’s hard not to lose oneself in the view of El Capitan. It is one of the first things you see when driving into the Yosemite Valley. The road opens up to the 3500 ft sheer wall. Thankfully there are places to park along this stretch of road and step right into this wonderful grove. It is a place where everyday life just melts away. I wandered around the grove to find the perfect framing of the iconic cliff face. These trees caught my eye. They were so balanced that I had to stop and shoot. As the golden sun rays struck the granite face of El Capitan, I had only minutes to capture the perfect shot before the sun diped below the mountains behind me. Suddenly the color was gone.
