Father and Son

I had Rodeo Beach marked on my map from day of planning my trip to the California coast. I remember the sea stacks from a visit many years ago and knew they would be perfect for a sunset setting on my one day in the San Francisco area. Unfortunately it was a perfectly clear and cloudless sky, but I was hopeful there would be something interesting as the sun went down. To my surprise and pleasure, the sky started to change in a perfect way to create a dreamlike backdrop for the sea stacks at the end of the beach. I set up my tripod and experimented with different shutter speeds. I got one long one and one shorter one (this one here) that perfectly captured not only the scene, but more importantly, the feeling of standing there absorbing this magical setting that lasted for only a few moments.
