My first night in Monterey, CA looked like it would be a little overcast and dull. I had to scout a few places along the shoreline near Point Pinos Lighthouse that I knew I wanted to photograph. It was windy and cold, but I was fascinated by the purple haze (thank you, Jimi Hendrix) in the distance. As the sun broke through and lit the rocks in the water, the surrounding area became enveloped in a soft violet that reflected on the water and made for a beautiful and otherworldly sight. It was not what I was originally expecting or planning for, but it exceed my expectations.
