Spectacular morning light across the face of Maroon Bells reflected beautifully in the still waters of Maroon Lake.
When the dreaded alarm goes off at 4:45 a.m. it is hard to feel excited about the adventure ahead. This is especially true when you have no idea what the sunrise will bring. As I made the 45 minute drive up to Maroon Lake to watch the mountains come alive as the sun rose over the Rockies, my excitement grew. It was a very crisp morning and the air was still as I found my place at the rim of the lake. The majestic Maroon Bells were right in front of me. The sun lit them up like fire and the reflection came alive. It was an amazing moment that was at once thrilling and tranquil. I absorbed the sight as it built and then in just a few minutes faded away.
